Richy Pitch Afromix

I’ve been obsessed with this little mix for the past couple of months but have been too busy not blogging to blog about. So let’s give it the blog it deserves shall we?

This half hour mix, by UK beat-maker extraordinaire, Richy Pitch, is to promote the launch of his new album “Ye Fre mi Richy Pitch” (“they call me Richy Pitch” in twi), which came out last month. If you have any interest in Afrobeat, hip life or African rhythms then you’ll love this. But even if you don’t, this is a seamless blend of traditional to current day West African music (and everything in between), interspersed with Afro-twisted hip hop, soul and funk that any sane person would have no option but to get deep to. I’ve been repeatedly melting at the soulful seduction of Yasmeen on Richy's “Dey Suffer” around 19:33...before repeatedly bopping to its subsequent drop around 80 seconds later. One of a number of highlights.

The mix is a tasty introduction to an innovative album, for which Richy took inspiration from a recent 2 year visit to Ghana. It takes in collaborations with a number of top Ghanaian artists including Reggie Rockstone, Samini, Wanlov, M3nsa and M.anifest, so be sure to check it out.

And with the black stars making the continent so proud recently, here's Richy's take on the situation with Sway and M3nsa...BLOODY CHEATING URUGUAYANS. alright I'm over it LEAVE ME ALONE.
