I’ve never been happier not to be in England after Sunday’s familiar World Cup disappointment...and what a place to be instead! Since England’s initial anticlimactic game against the USA I began to appreciate the value in having 2 teams in the world cup. Despite a slow start, and the fact that they hadn’t managed to score more than one goal in any of the 10 or so games they’ve played this season, Ghana have pulled it together to be the only African team left in Africa’s first world cup, and only the third African team to ever reach the quarter finals.

It went OFF in Osu, central Accra, where thousands of locals filled the streets to celebrate their country’s 2-1 extra time win over the USA. Here’s a few pics.

Next up is Uruguay, a team which, realistically, Ghana have a decent chance of beating to make it through to the semis. Unfortunately the dream England-Ghana final I was GENUINELY WISHING for was let down by our boys, but whether they make it through or not, the black stars are flying the African flag (it exists, I checked) and making the continent proud.

GO BLACK STARS!!!
