DAKAR!!!

Here are a few pics from our time in Dakar, surely top in the list of unexpected expensive cities around the world (yes I paid the equivalent of £4 for a Coke in a club...didn’t stay long). It’s a great city, one which I’m sure will become a real hot spot in the developing African tourist market over the coming years and decades. Great music scene, nice little island excursions and miles of coastline provide all the potential for that to happen. Possibly my favourite ever public transport vehicles, the Ndiaga Ndiayes, add even more character to their city than the Underground does for London...and packing around 25 people into what is roughly a 15 seater, in some ways they feel not too dissimilar to the Northern line, either.

Kofi’s still getting to grips with me being the “token”, but we’ve made some good friends along the way... ;-)

It’s been a great opportunity to build contacts, get under the skin of another West African music scene, and take one step further towards creating an exciting and special event in Ghana.

(Sorry for the delay in posting these – I actually wrote the Dakar music blog about 4 days ago but Mali, the 4th poorest country in the world, ain’t been too hot on the internet access so far...)
